Practical info
Mooring
You can moor
along the canal wherever you like for a few minutes
or longer or even for the night.
But avoid the curves of the river,
bridges and leave enough space for
passing barges.
It is forbidden to moor to trees,
signposts, parapets: use solid
stakes planted in the ground.
Do
not attach a cable or rope across
the tow path.
Navigation guide
We sell navigation guides so that you can prepare your cruise.
Locks
Passing locks is for free with a tip
being optional.
Passing locks is simple and
without danger, if you respect
some basic rules. In case
the locks are manual, the lock
keeper will appreciate your
help. You will also
gain some time.
Timetable of the locks : 9 h - 12 h and 13 h -19 h
Passing a lock takes 15 minutes.
If the gates are closed, please keep
enough distance to avoid the
washes caused by the filling or
draining of the lock. Conform
to the instructions given by the
lock keeper. Do not release the
ropes before the locking is
completely finished.
Maneuvers
Handling our boats is easy. All maneuvers and approaches of obstacles must be done with reduced speed. Accosting, passing locks, ... should be done calmly and without panicking. In our region you might meet commercial barges along your tour. They have priority and will pass the locks first.
Fishing
Fishing is authorized. Do
not forget your permit.
However you can buy a permit in
Briare.
You will see a lot
of fishermen at the steep banks:
slow down and, if possible, take a
distance. They will appreciate it.
Signposting
In the logbook you will find a section with the explanation of the navigation signposting as well as the fluvial map and other useful information.
Maximum speed
In order to protect the steep banks of the canals, the speed is limited at 6 km/h.
